Abstract

Computational Thinking has emerged as an essential skill in education, particularly in the context of Industry 4.0, especially for high school students. This article aims to enhance computational thinking among secondary school students through computer programming using the Arduino UNO microcontroller, integrated into pedagogical activities that foster problem-solving and automation. The research methodology adopted a non-experimental qualitative approach, in which students with prior programming knowledge designed, constructed, and tested physical prototypes to address real-world problems. The process began with a diagnostic test to assess programming logic, followed by an introduction to programming syntax and interaction with the microcontroller. The results demonstrated significant improvements in students’ technical skills and their motivation for active learning in programming and robotics. Additionally, collaborative learning, creativity, and problem-solving abilities were highlighted as students worked in teams to develop their projects. However, certain limitations were identified, including the availability of material resources and the need for further teacher training. In conclusion, the use of the Arduino UNO as an educational tool effectively contributes to the development of technological competencies and provides an accessible and engaging environment for active learning. This approach is vital in preparing students for the challenges of Industry 4.0 and an increasingly digitized world.
