Kinematic Characteristics of the Free-Throw Shooting Gesture in College Basketball Players
Abstract
Basketball is a collective sport, which belongs to a group called “invasion games”, its main objective is to achieve a greater number of baskets than the opponent in a given time, this game has a type of shot, called free throw, It is the throw that is made when a foul is committed or when the number of fouls allowed during a game is exceeded. Objective: to determine the kinematic characteristics of the free throw shooting gesture in basketball in university athletes. Materials and method: A descriptive observational study was developed. 48 basketball players, between 17 and 26 years old, were evaluated. The kinematics of the upper limb, neck and trunk were assessed in the Movement Analysis Laboratory of the Autonomous University of Manizales, through the BTS Smart Dx 40 system. JASP 0.17.2.1 software was used. for the respective analysis. Results: The kinematic variables of left shoulder flexion and extension, right and left elbow flexion and extension, and trunk flexion and extension, with a P <0.001, which represents a significant difference between men and women. Conclusions: of the 48 basketball players evaluated, the predominant movement during the throwing gesture was neck flexion with an average of 14.23 degrees, shoulder flexion of 112.60 degrees and elbow flexion was 130.17 degrees. Right wrist extension of 38.10 degrees was also observed. In the trunk, an extension with an average of – 1.41 degrees was found during this launch.
